Antonio Roman-Alcala activist, filmmaker and one of the founders of The San Francisco Urban Agriculture Alliance (SFUAA) talks about the necessity of such an alliance for grassroots initiatives, as a way to make it into politics. The SFUAA works with outside organizations and governmental agencies. One of Roman’s key points is that if we want to change the system, in a deeper sense, grassroots organizations can and must be political, they are the ones who sustain democratic values and skills, which have to be practiced and updated constantly.
