Berliner Energietisch was born out of the wish of a small group of people of 10 people from 3 different organisations to take back the electricity grid of the city of Berlin into the public hands. The idea was quickly accepted by the population, who took part in their activities and campaigns, and grew into one of the biggest citizen-based movements in the last years. Stefan Taschner tells us how the 56 initiatives that shape the initiative at date got together, their goals and the political procedure they had to go through to influence politics and ultimately claim their right to administer electricity as a citizen right.
